Enchanting author entertains with creepy hollow and faerie war adventures

FORMER North Coast resident and author, Rachel Morgan will again enchant and delight with the third installment of her Creepy Hollow series, The Faerie War.

Morgan launched her latest novel on Saturday 26 October at Maris Stella in Durban.

Creepy Hollow follows the adventures of Violet, a spunky teenage faerie guardian-in-training.

The novels are set in a hidden magical realm, amid a good versus evil battle where the faerie guardians must protect humans from certain peril.

Rachel Morgan Goetsch, (nee Tucker), grew up on the North Coast, attending Maidstone Primary and Crawford College North Coast where she matriculated in 2003.

She later moved to Durban North to teach at Inanda Seminary and has since settled with her husband in Pietermarirzburg.

In January this year, she made the decision to commit wholly to her work and started writing full time.

Rachel said it has been a incredible year and her writing has flourished now that she is not pressed for time.

“My writing has definitely developed since I first began writing books. As I’ve grown more familiar with my writing style, I’ve found I can get words onto the page faster than I used to.

“Hopefully this means it won’t be too long before you see another novel from me,” she said.

So what does she have planned now that this series is complete?

“While fantasy will always be my first love, I plan to write some contemporary stories next. Light-hearted romance set in South Africa (so I can describe my own beautiful country for a while instead of making one up!).”

Rachel is also excited to be participating in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). This is an internet-based project where participants aim to write 50 000 words towards a new novel between November 1 and November 30. This ‘writing race’ has been happening since 1999, with more than 340 000 participants last year.

The Creepy Hollow books have had great success online as ebooks and are also available in print in numerous KZN bookstores.
