Greenwood Park crime

A GANG of armed men are terrorising residents in the Greenwood Park area.

Greenwood Park SAPS spokesman, Lt Elvis Naidoo, said domestic workers, Gugu Zikode and her mother, Absine, were held up in the house they work at on 4 September by two armed men in Kiaat Road.

The men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knive, forced open the kitchen’s security gate, locked the Zikodes in the bathroom and ransacked the house.

Two cellphones, cash, a PSP, laptop, shoes, jewellery, a flatscreen TV and a Lexus were stolen, items worth R1-million.

In another robbery in Firwood Road, an armed man accosted a resident while off loading his car. The armed robber then forced the man into his home, where three other robbers joined him.

One of the men held up the resident and three other family members, while the other three stole jewellery, a laptop, cash, three cellphones, a firearm and 66 rounds. The resident was also assaulted during the robbery. No arrests have been made for either of the robberies, but Lt Naidoo said arrests are imminent.

“We urge residents to report any suspicious people or vehicles driving in their roads. We had some great arrests in the last few months and we’re working hard to catch these robbers,” Lt Naidoo said.
