Littlies pay men in blue a visit

St Martin's Pre-Primary School's pupils visited Greenwood Park Police Station recently.

The school wanted to expose its pupils to the police environment and were treated to a tour around the station.

“We wanted to show them the seriousness of committing a crime and what happens to criminals when they get caught, as well as show them the challenging environment policemen have to work in,” said Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for Greenwood Park SAPS.

The children had the opportunity to look at the various equipment used by officers, such as handcuffs, bullet-proof vests and the police cars.

Lt Naidoo then gave a short talk, encouraging the children to aspire to become policemen, followed by a tour to the prison cells and the trauma centre.

“We hope to do more of these school tours to create further awareness,” Lt Naidoo said.

Schools who wish to visit the station can contact Lt Naidoo on 031 571 6412.
