It’s time for Ballito Street Heroes

Excitement is building among petrol heads around South Africa for the Ballito Street Heroes event on 14 and 15 September.

The Laguna Seca precinct in Ballito will be turned into a motoring nirvana as cars, drivers, racers, and riders descend on the small seaside town in KwaDukuza for two days of motoring action.

The inaugural Ballito Street Heroes event is brought to car lovers by Edusport, in conjunction with the ILembe Chamber of Commerce and sponsors Ballito Auto SMD. This event is also supported by accommodation partners Fairmont Zimbali Resorts as well as the KwaDukuza Municipality.

Those attending the event can expect to see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Maseratis scorching around the 1.5km time trial race track in the Supercar Class to start things off. These Italian beauties will be followed by some American muscle in the form of the legendary Cobra, Shelby GT500, and Ford GT40.

When these two national stables are finished battling it out on the tarmac, the fastest rides from car clubs across KwaZulu-Natal will take their place, with the hottest VWs, Opels, and Seats taking to the track.

Spectators wishing to see a change from four wheels to two are also in luck, Ballito Street Heroes will provide the most extreme displays of freestyle motorcross, and the motorbiking legend that is Brain Capper.

Capper the 10-time national champion, trial rider, EnduroCross racer, Supermoto speedster, and man who took a motorbike over the Moses Mabhida Stadium arch will be in Ballito on both days to keep audiences enthralled with his custom built, mobile demonstration rig.

Capper’s exploits will no doubt be matched on four-wheels by Ford Racing’s Shaun Duminy, who takes a break from his life as a Bridgestone Production Car racer to show his skills on the time trial race track.

Duminy will be bringing with him a Ford racing car used in the production car series, as well as a highly tuned, but road legal, Ford Focus RS.

Besides the professionals, one of the highlights of the weekend will be Jade Gutzeit and his 1000bhp Nissan Skyline GTR, which he has already taken around the track in preparation for the time trial runs.

For the motorsport enthusiasts who want a first class experience during the two days, corporate hospitality packages are available. They include private, tented seating overlooking the start/finish line, lunch, canapés, drinks, alcoholic beverages, escorted pit walks, and entry to the precinct – from R1250 per person, excluding VAT.
