‘Bray’ing about Gateway’s celebrity chef win

INTERNATIONALLY celebrated and award-winning fashion designer, Terrence Bray, has won the third evening of Gateway’s Celebrity Chef Showdown where he competed with fellow fashion designer, Kathrin Kidger last Tuesday.

The competition took place at Mugg & Bean Gateway.

“It is a very special honour to be voted for by the patrons that were at Mugg & Bean. For them to have faith in me so much that they booked a seat is a prize enough. Winning was the humbling cherry on top,” said Bray.

Bray’s winning menu comprised of; Moroccan butternut, chickpea and carrot soup for starters, grilled chicken fillet served on mustard mash, winter vegetables and topped with blue cheese sauce or vegetable lasagne for the main course and apple and cinnamon flapjacks for dessert.

Visitors to Gateway are invited to make a booking with their selected restaurant to attend any of the remaining two evenings in order to enjoy a night of entertainment and healthy competition between well known local celebrities.

The remaining restaurants in the series include; fish market, teppanyaki, sushi and vibrant restaurant, Cape Town Fish Market; New York Style, Sevruga.

On each restaurant’s evening, the meals prepared by the celebrities will be in line with the restaurants normal food offering. Times are 6.30pm for 7pm and the cost is R120 per person for a set menu which includes; starter, main and dessert.

Gateway VIP members can win a table of 10 at each Celebrity Chef Showdown evening by burning 2 000 points they have earned. VIP members also stand a chance to win one of two holidays valued at R18 000 each: a trip for two to the 7-star Karkloof Safari Spa.
