Sector 2 takes back its streets

Greenwood Park SAPS' Sector 2 members, along with local security companies, eighbourhood watches and other stakeholders, held a snake trail in the Sector 2 area at the weekend.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS officers and the Community Policing Forum’s Sector 2 members, Marshall Security officers, Metro Police and neighbourhood watch members took to the streets on Saturday 7 September in a snake trail.

According to the Sector 2 chairman, Luc Augustine, the day was a resounding success, with residents supporting the drive, adding they said it was wonderful to see visible policing in the area.

“Sector 2 officially endorsed Marshall Security as one of its main partnerships. We urge residents to come on board in the fight against crime,” Augustine said.

Augustine said the main aim for the trail as to show residents that all the main stakeholders can come together for one cause.

“The more local businesses, emergency services, neighbourhood watches and residents on board, the better we can fight crime,” he added.

Greenwood Park SAPS spokesman, Lt Elvis Naidoo, said such events are important to show residents the police are working hard to fight crime.

The next Sector 2 meeting is on Wednesday 11 September at Effingham Secondary School in room 29. Residents from Effingham Heights, Avoca, Greenwood Park, Red Hill and Riverhorse Valley are urged to attend the meeting. Contact Luc Augustine on 072 437 1325.
