Old friends meet again

Former Danville Park Girls' High School pupils met for a day of fun at the school's annual old girls' reunion.

ON a perfect winter’s morning, past pupils from the class of 2003 arrived to play indoor hockey, netball and soccer against present pupils of Danville Park Girls’ High School on Saturday 17 August.

Great fun was had by all, with many old girls feeling the pain of their 10-year break from competitive sport after a morning of stiff competition.

In the afternoon they returned with old girls from the classes of 1973, 1983 and 1993 to take a trip down memory lane at the annual old girls’ reunion tea.

Past friends and classmates enjoyed time catching up on decades that had slipped by too fast while enjoying delicious eats and refreshments, after which they nostalgically retraced their steps on a tour of the school guided by current Grade 11 pupils.

Di Williams (nee Devereux), from the class of 1973, remarked: “I had a great time on Saturday afternoon and was filled with pride! The staff, governing bodies and pupils have done well over the years to establish such a facility for many more generations of young girls to be developed into fine young ladies, ready to take on all the challenges of the modern and ever changing world.”
