Sabrina has a passion for fashion with a cause

Local fashion guru, Sabrina Maingard, hopes to spread the word a cause close to her heart, fashion with a case.

WITH a passion for fashion, with a cause, Sabrina Maingard, better known as Fashion Nanny, is geared up to help those in need of some dire fashion advice.

Sabrina, born with true Italian passion, said before she became the vibrant, chatty woman she is today, she was a very introverted classical pianist.

It was only when she started working in her parent’s Italian restaurant that she climed out her shell.

At 19 Sabrina decided to travel to Italy, where she fell in love with all things fashion.

“It was only in Italy that I realised the importance of fashion. Fashion is part of the Italian culture,” she said.

Sabrina sees herself as a fashion and style motivator, hoping to find her clients’ own signature brand and enhancing it to its full potential.

“My aim is to instil confidence, so people can feel like they belong. There is a large number of people who are intimidated by fashion, and my goal is to help them find where they fit in,” she added.

A qualified fashion designer and makeup artist, Sabrina said those wanting to study a career in fashion need to have a true passion for it.

“Don’t sign up for something if you aren’t sure what you’re getting yourself in to. It’s a lot of hard work and you have to have a real passion for it,” Sabrina said.

Inspiring women and young girls at her fashion camps has been a true inspiration for this fashionista.

“It’s been so rewarding to see how these women and girls understand what fashion is about. For me it’s not about looking good, but about feeling good. It’s also been so rewarding to help students, through my grad camps, to find the fashion transition from student to employee or business owner.”

But Sabrina isn’t just about the fashion. She also has a great passion for social responsibility, adding she loves working with charities, having worked with Reach for a Dream Foundation’s Queen for a Day project, and also gives out fashion camp bursaries.

“If I can get the point across of fashion for a cause, my job is done,” she said.
