Road rehab projects set for the North

THE Roads Provision Department has started rehabilitation on a number of roads in Durban North. The rehabilitation project is absolutely essential said ward councillor, Heinz de Boer.

“The projects are long overdue, for four or five years now, the municipality has failed to undertake any project and it’s pleasing to see. I have received dozens of complaints, from residents about the state of the different roads,” he said.

De Boer added he was particularly happy about work being done on Allamanda Road (Glen Hills) which was in need of urgent attention.

The minor works scheduled for the various roads is meant to be completed by December this year (depending on weather conditions and the availability of special materials). The projects have been identified and prioritised using the eRoads system-road asset management tool.

“The work will involve removing of existing road layers and replacing them and traffic will be controlled using a stop/go system. While I am sure tempers will flare and the public will be inconvenienced, the project is necessary,” he said.

The road rehabilitation will take place on the following roads:
