Man stabbed in uMgeni mugging

Four men make off with pedestrian's valuables in armed mugging.

FOUR suspects robbed and stabbed a pedestrian walking on Riverside Road on Christmas Eve. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred just after 5pm on Saturday evening.

“Four suspects ambushed the victim and robbed him of his valuables. He was stabbed in the altercation but was not seriously injured. The mugging occurred on Riverside Road near the bird park. The victim said he saw the suspects run into the bushes alongside the uMngeni River,” he said.

Last year police arrested a number of vagrants thought to be behind a spate of muggings on Riverside Road.
