Contestants shine at uMhlanga Beauty Pageant
This year, the event attracted a record entry of over 140 competitors.

THE eighth Mr and Miss uMhlanga Beauty Pageant was held on Friday, 16 December. Hosted by uMhlanga Tourism and a sponsor, the pageant which was the second event in the overall uMhlanga Summer Festival saw this year’s finalist being crowned on the Millennium Stage.
The pageant was once again co-ordinated by Kevin Ellis, who has been part of this event since its inception. Ellis who is renown in Durban for his innovative and unusual clothing designs and is a choreographer for Xfactor SA, was joined by Gareth Greaves, the event’s stylist who also works on Xfactor SA.

The winning contestants for the Open Men and Women competition both won a weekend away valued at R4500 at Lord of the Manor Boutique Hotel in the Midlands. Other prizes included tiaras, sashes, Lizzy bikinis, medals, Just Juice items and various other surprises.
