Spare a thought for animals this festive season

Always report animal cruelty to the SPCA or the NSPCA, urges reader.

AS we head towards the festive season and plan our holidays, let us think about the safety of our pets. Be sure to leave your home and pets with reliable, trustworthy people.

During the last festive season, over the Christmas and New Year period, many pets were left stranded, without any care, as the people left in charge of them went home and just left them.
Some even tried to sell the pets for cash at the Durban beachfront. Thank goodness a few caring people who happened to be around tried to feed these starving animals until the owners returned and took photos of these innocent pets being sold by the gardener on the beach. People recognised these pets and put the word out.

Animal lovers don’t look forward to this time of the year at all because of the suffering that pets are often subjected to.

Let us all assist as much as we can by being vigilant and caring about what is going on around us. Please always report animal cruelty to the SPCA or the NSPCA.
