Childline uses craze to highlight 16 Days

One minute video depicts violence against women and children.

CHILDLINE KZN is using a current internet video craze, the mannequin challenge, to bring attention to 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

The challenge sees local students either carrying placards with messages written on them calling for an end to abuse or in enacting acts of abuse.

Childline KZN Director, Nomvuyo Shabangu, said the scenes enacted in the one minute long video are real and will have an impact.

“By doing the challenge in a public setting we wanted to remove people from their comfort zone and highlight that the scourge of violence against women and children is a social issue that affects us all,” Shabangu said.

The annual anti-abuse campaign runs between International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 25 November – International Human Rights Day, 10 December.
