WIN: Wine hamper from Treasure Chest

Win a taste of the work of some of SA’s finest vintners.

A NEW generation of South African winemakers have emerged who are poised to break new ground. The entrepreneurs have formed under an organisation called Treasure Chest for the spectacular array of flavours and blends. The wines, according to the principal of Treasure Chest, Malcolm Green each carry a unique South African flavour and story attached to the courageous vintners who are hard at work making inroads into South Africa’s wine industry.

Early this month, The Treasure Chest tied up the Durban leg of the country-wide road show that sees the black entrepreneurs, 12 of whom are women, traveling around the country to establish links with key wine buyers.
Given that the country’s wines are loved by local consumers and international buyers alike, the Treasure Chest  is sure to be a breath of fresh air to the industry. With such an established market, however, it can be difficult for new players to enter.

The group features a diverse mix of estates and brands from nine different wine-growing regions in the Western Cape all united by a common purpose to provide a platform for the smaller or lesser known wineries, helping them to compete with established brands on shelves and menus across South Africa. The aim is to build on the amazing wine making heritage in the country and introduce customers to a new generation of South African winemakers, for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
