Adrian triumphs at gospel awards

Former Northwood School learner wins gospel award without a record label.

MT Edgecombe’s Adrian Sing may be new to the gospel music industry but he is already making waves. He recently won the Best Gospel Rock award at the SABC Crown Gospel Awards at the Durban ICC. The album’s opening track, All the Glory, was nominated for the Best Gospel Rock award while, The Lord Will Never Fail earned Sing a Best Gospel Songwriter nomination.

“I am over the moon, this is all through God’s grace. I never thought I’d win, I was just honoured to be in the same category as some of the artists in the industry. Considering I only launched my album last year I was just blown away by the win, in my acceptance speech I was so nervous I was trying to think of everyone I need to thank,” he said.

Incredibly, the former Northwood School learner and father of two did all of this without a record label.

“Marshall Music has been incredible since day one, they have backed me and supported me, especially my wife and my parents. For many years I was rejected by other musicians and singers. The fact that they saw potential in me and believed in me was massive for me, none of this would have been possible without their support,” he said.

Sing, who is a music director and pastor at the Rhema Durban church, said he is now working on doing collaborations with other gospel singers.

One of the award-winning artist’s songs will be featured on Thulani Ga Ndlela’s live DVD/ CD recording at the KwaMashu Christian Centre on Saturday, 10 December.
