Durban Symphonic Choir sings for charity

Every cent is invested in these crèches, with their 116 registered children.

The melodic sounds of the Durban Symphonic Choir will echo through the halls of the St Michael’s Anglican Church in uMhlanga later this month, in honour of the Milimani Educational Trust. The Trust was established more than 12 years ago and supports three crèches in the northern Zululand areas.

For the last four years, the church has taken the Trust under its wing and hopes to have a full house for the upcoming performance. Proceeds from the night will be handed over to the Trust. The Trust caters to the crèches, which are situated in deeply impoverished communities and is run by Lois Kuhle and four other trustees, all of whom are committed to helping the communities.

The Milimani Educational Trust was borne out of the need to cement a mutually respectful relationship between the then Milimani Game Sanctuary and neighbouring communities.

“Every cent is invested in these crèches, with their 116 registered children. Their main priority is to provide food, educational stationery and this year, thanks to the Graham Caritas Trust, they were able to finance diploma courses in early child development for three educators,” Kuhle said.

The concert will take place at the St Michael’s Anglican Church (6 Durban View Road, Umhlanga) on Sunday, 27 November at 3pm. Tickets are R70.
