ER24 slam hoax weather warning

Claims that a another devastating storm is heading to Johannesburg has been dismissed by emergency services.

EMERGENCY Service provider, ER24, has slammed a hoax weather warning doing the rounds via WhatsApp. In the voice note, a woman named Antoinette, claims to be from ER24 and explains that there is a severe storm heading for Johannesburg.

She proceeds to give warnings about the apparent storm. ER24’s Russel Meiring said, the voice note was not issued via an official channel of ER24.

” We are in the process of determining the employment of the person that distributed the message. Please note that official weather warnings will only be issued by the South African Weather Services,” he added.

The hoax weather alert comes two days after flash floods wreaked havoc in Joburg resulting in the death of six people. Emergency services are still searching for a three-year-old little girl from an Alexandra informal settlement who went missing on Wednesday.
