Tributes pour in for Greenwood Park cop

One of the policemen involved in the arrest of the suspects who hijacked an uMgeni Park resident has died.

TRIBUTES continue to pour in for Greenwood Park policeman who died earlier this week.
Detective Constable Mzothuele  Ngubane, worked at the police station for seven years.

Speaking to the Northglen News, the station’s spokesperson, Leon Audh, said Ngubane died of natural causes. Audh added that Ngubane was a part of their TRIO Crimes Unit and had notched numerous arrests and successful convictions during his tenure at the station.

Last month Ngubane and his team members, in the unit made a breakthrough when they arrested the two suspects wanted in connection with the kidnapping and hijacking of a 24-year-old uMgeni Park resident in August.

The men not only threatened to shoot Kyle Lupke, but brazenly handed him R20 of his own money as taxi fare after they dumped him in KwaMashu.

“In his last arrest, the suspect was arrested and charged for house robbery. The suspect was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment,” said Audh.
