Childline Telethon a major success

Childline KZN's fourth annual Telethon has raised a total of R526 978 in pledges.

CHILDLINE KZN has raised a total of R526 978 in pledges during its fourth annual Telethon fundraising initiative.

This year’s Childline ambassadors included, John Aritho, Julia Petersen, Trisha Poona, Iman Mia, Akshar Choudree, Levinia Arran and Carvin Goldstone took part in the two-day event, where they called on their contacts to pledge towards the organisation’s fundraising efforts.

Childline KZN director, Nomvuyo Shabangu, said the organisation, which assists thousands of vulnerable and abused children, requires at least R8,4 million each year to manage its operations.

“As a non-profit organisation, funding plays a significant role in Childline KZN’s ability to perform its mandate. We have received generous funding from our donors over the years and the response to the telethon has been no different,” said Shabangu.
“Since the Telethon further pledges have continued to stream in and we would like to thank those who so generously heeded the call to support this cause by either committing their time or contributing financially,” she concluded.
