Dino shows his true colours

The mange-riddled dog from Shakaskraal has undergone an unbelievable transformation.

DINO, the mange-riddled dog from Shakaskraal, who was rescued by Animally Haven founder, Gianna Scoulelis earlier this year has staged a remarkable recovery.

The now happy and furry hound has become unrecogisable.

When Scoulelis rescued him in February he was extremely emaciated, weighing no more than 13 kilograms. The severely neglected pup was also covered in fleas, ticks, sores and sarcoptic mange.

At the time the animal activists told the Northglen News that it had been the worst case of animal abuse that she has seen in 20 years of rescue work.

Dino has regained more than his beautiful coat, said Scoulelis, he has also gained some weight and confidence in humans – he now weighs over 18 kilograms.

“While he is still skittish when you make any sudden movements, he does not cower the way he use to,” she said.

The one-year-old Husky-cross will need some additional socialisation before he can be put up for adoption, she said.
