Pregnant woman injured as car overturns on M4

Two people injured in M4 accident near Glenashley off-ramp.

TWO people have been injured after a car overturned on the M4 (going north) near the Glenashley off-ramp. One of the passengers, a woman six months pregnant, had to be freed from the wreckage by rescue personnel. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the road was closed while rescue workers extricated the occupants and cleared up the wreckage.

“It’s believed the husband lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn. We thought the jaws of life would have to be used to free the couple because of the crumpled state of the vehicle. However, rescue personnel managed to pull the victims safely out of the vehicle. They were both injured in the collision and the freeway had to be closed to clear the debris from the accident,” he said.

Earlier in the evening, Netcare 911 paramedics and Marshall Security responded to a serious accident on Danville Avenue. A vehicle crashed through the wall of a property leaving two injured.
