‘Taste’ of the good life this October

The 2016 Good Food & Wine Show will once again take place at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 28 to 30 October.

GEORGE Calombaris – who has become famous around the globe as one of the judges of the hugely popular TV show MasterChef Australia – is heading to Durban as the 2016 Good Food & Wine Show comes to town. The new look show will once again take place at the Durban Exhibition Centre from October 28 to 30 and is bang on trend with food and cooking fashions. Calombaris will be joined by a stellar line-up including Siba Mtongana, Jenny Morris, Sarah Graham, Neill Anthony and J’Something.

Calombaris may be recognisable around the globe thanks to his TV work but there’s so much more to this likeable chef who a number of award winning restaurants: “I am thrilled to be coming to Durban. There are going to be a few little surprises during the demonstrations and I am going to ‘play’ with people’s senses. It’s also an opportunity for people to come and meet me and get a good idea of who I am and why food has played such a major part in my life.”

The theme of the 2016 show is “Fresh” and, for the first time in the Durban show’s history, curator Hannerie Visser has been appointed to oversee installations that excite all of the senses and enable visitors to interact with, and immerse themselves completely in, the event.

This year’s show will be divided into zones: wellness; lifestyle; wine; market & street food; beer & alcohol; gourmet; baking and an area for children.

Once again GF&WS is working with Durban Tourism to promote the city and head of Durban Tourism Phillip Sithole said: “The Good Food & Wine Show has been identified as the best platform to showcase Durban’s unique and multi-cultural cuisine to an array of globally recognised chefs and food television networks.”
