Massive waves caught on video

Monster waves as high as 17 metres were seen battering the coast.

LAST year Prestondale resident and photographer Nick Ferreira captured amazing images of large waves along beaches in Durban North and uMhlanga, some as high as the M4 bridge near Blue Lagoon. However now, Super Typhoon Meranti, has produced some terrifying images of large waves hitting Taiwan.

The storm triggered waves 17 feet high with winds measured at 185 mph, which makes it the strongest storm anywhere on Earth so far. The waves were the highest ever recorded in the history of China’s offshore wave surveillance.
