Pedestrian held up by 6 armed men

The suspects told the victim not to shout out for help as they riffled through his pockets.

A PEDESTRIAN was robbed of two cell phones by a group of armed men on Bellengere Road. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the SAPS, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

“The man was walking on the road which leads to Varsity College when he was accosted by six men, some of whom were carrying knives. They demanded his valuables and warned him not to make a sound as they riffled through his pockets. The men then took two cellphones from the victim and fled on foot. The road is situated opposite the Japanese Gardens but it is unclear whether the men were involved in the robberies plaguing the municipal gardens,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
