No sign of missing Sunningdale woman

Despite an intensive community-driven search the 62-year-old woman remains missing.

THE 62-year-old woman that disappeared in Glen Anil last night has not yet been found. Brenda Lynn Scriven’s whereabouts remain a mystery, despite the efforts of an intense community-driven search.

Members of the Mvoti Neighbourhood Watch joined forces with police and several emergency services to sweep the area where the missing Sunningdale woman was last seen.

According to the chairman, Grant Cockburn, they searched from Glen Anil Street, where her car was found, to old North Coast Road as well as along Chris Hani Road and the River Horse Valley area, but found no trace of Scriven.

“There was one eye witness who claims to have seen a person being swept away by the stream at the bottom of Glen Anil street,” he said.

Another person also reportedly saw Scriven get out of her car and walk up the road.

Scriven’s family began a desperate search last night, after they failed to get through to her on the cell phone after 6pm. When they tried calling her after 6pm she did not answer.

“My stepdad, Lance Ethell, had spoken to her. She was on her way home near Umgeni,” said her daughter, Lindy-Leigh Swales.

A man eventually answered the missing woman’s cell phone, saying her had found her car abandoned with the keys in the ignition. Her wallet, handbag and cell phone was also still in the car.
