Support the charity golf day, hombres!

The theme of this year's fun event is Mexican Fiesta and the local 'hombres' are urged to go out and support the worthy cause while dressing up to match the theme.

THE altruistic women from the 31 Club have challenged the men in the community to take part in their annual Men’s Golf Day charity drive on 7 June at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club.

The theme of this year’s fun event is Mexican Fiesta and the local ‘hombres’ are urged to go out and support the worthy cause while dressing up to match the theme.

Event organiser, Pam Alexander, said it serves as the perfect opportunity for the men to learn more about the club’s projects and support its initiatives while having fun.

Every year, the club hosts several events to raise funds used to support 50 organisations within the greater Durban area, including the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, CHOC, Highway Hospice and Durban Child and Youth Care Centre.

In February, the club’s first fundraising event of the year, ‘Dare to Love Yourself‘, raised R90 000.

During the second event, the Tutti Fruitti Ladies’ Golf Day fundraiser at the Mount Edgecombe Golf Club, the ladies managed to raise a whopping R85 000.

The 31 Club is a registered non-profit organisation formed in 1962 by a group of women under the chairmanship of Norma Rattray. The group strives to raise funds for various organisations and charities in KwaZulu-Natal. As the group consisted of 31 volunteers, the club was named accordingly and membership remains at a maximum of 31 members who work on a regular voluntary basis.

  • The Men’s Golf Day event is set to start at 11.15am. Entrance costs R750 per person.  Anyone interested in joining the club is urged to contact Pam on 082 457 8554.
