Mum and baby escapes hijacking

The desperate mum escaped the armed suspects after she grabbed her baby and fled the scene.

A MOTHER and her baby became the targets of two would-be hijackers in Greenwood Park earlier this week. The duo managed to evade the armed suspects after the mother allegedly grabbed her baby and fled the scene.

The armed suspects, said W/O Leon Audh of the Greenwood Park SAPS, confronted their unsuspecting victims on Columbia Road. While threatening the mother at gunpoint, they reportedly demanded she hand over her cell phone and her car keys.

“The complainant alleged that as soon as she got the opportunity, she grabbed her baby and ran away from the crime scene,” said Audh.

The suspects fled on foot after they failed to start the vehicle. Police have appealed to anyone with information pertaining to the case to contact  Det/Cst Mhlongo on 073 8621 700.
