uMhlanga bomb search concluded

Authorities swept the building but were unable to find an explosive device.

BUSINESS has returned to normal following the bomb scare at the FNB building on Kikembe Road in uMhlanga.

Sean Prendergaft, the control room manager at the Ridge Management Association, confirmed that the bomb threat had been eliminated.

“SAPS and building security along with the dog squad searched the site, but the threat turned out to be negative. Business has returned to normal and the roadblock has been lifted,” he said.

According to local media, the emergency evacuation was implemented after the Johannesburg office grew concerned about a parcel that had been left in the building by a member of the public yesterday.

Other reports have suggested that the bomb scare was set off after building security detected radiation at the site.

Prendergaft was unable to confirm either of the reports.
