Truck rams into a car on N2

Traffic in both directions have been severely affected.

The N2 has been labelled a no-go zone following a massive collision on the N2 southbound after Queen Nandi Drive. The incident, according to Crisis Medical’s Neil Powell, occurred about an hour ago.

He said the accident involved a truck and three cars that were traveling southbound. One of the vehicles reportedly rolled over the ditch and ended up on the northbound barrier.

“According to eyewitness reports, a truck traveling at high speed collided with a vehicle, causing it to veer out of its lane. A third vehicle traveling in the fast lane then collided with the second, causing it to lose control and roll over the centre medium while colliding with a fourth vehicle in the process. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on top of the barrier in the northbound lane of the N2,” he said.

Powell said one of the motorists, a 44-year-old female sustained moderate injuries. “The second occupant, a female of 18 years old sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to hospital,” he added.

Traffic has been severely affected on both ends, confirmed Powell. “The northbound lane is backed up past Spaghetti Junction, while the southbound lane traffic stretches past uMhlanga,” he said.

While reports have claimed that both lanes have been re-opened traffic is reportedly slow.
