Pedestrians targeted by armed robbers

The armed robbers demanded the victims’ cell phones and bags.

TWO pedestrians were caught in armed robberies in the Greenwood Park policing district last night.

According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the police station, both incidents occurred at around 6pm.

In the first incident, he said the victim was attacked while walking along Avoca Hills Drive.

“The woman said she was walking towards her home when she realised that she was being followed by an unknown male dressed in a two-piece overall,” he said.

The woman claims the man accosted her when she reached her gate. He reportedly held a knife to her throat and threatened to stab her if she did not hand over her cell phone and handbag.

Audh said the woman complied and the suspect fled on foot. In the second incident, a man was robbed at gunpoint while walking on Kenville Road.

“The complainant alleged that he was accosted by three armed men and one of them pointed a firearm at him. The suspects threateningly demanded his bag and cell phone and after robbing him they fled on foot,” he said.
