2 cars from 1 family stolen in violent home invasion

The Durban North homewner grabbed his own gun to fight back but was thwarted by the suspects.

A FAMILY was tied up and held at gunpoint after four armed men targeted their home on Berkeley Crescent on Monday night.

According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park station, the robbers gained entry to the home after they accosted the husband in his garage.

“The suspects produced two guns, grabbed the victim by the belt and forced him into the home,” he said.

The victim was reportedly hit on the back of the head with one of the guns after he grabbed his own gun.

“When the suspects were distracted, the victim managed to grab his own firearm and pointed it at the suspects. However, one of the suspects walked up behind him and struck him on the head with the butt of the gun,” said Audh.

The spokesman said the suspects then forced the victim, his wife and son into a bedroom where they tied them up with cords and ransacked the home.

Audh confirmed that the suspect fled the scene with two of the victim’s vehicles as well as various electronic equipment.
