Take note: Weekend road closures

The M4 will be closed on Sunday as athletes take part in The Deloitte Challenge Marathon.

ON Sunday the M4 will be closed off for The Deloitte Challenge Marathon, as runners are set to take part in the 42.2km Comrades qualifier. The M4 will be closed from 3.30am.

The race is set to start at the Lifestyle Centre in Ballito. The athletes will loop around the centre before turning right at Ashton College onto the M4 Northern freeway, running south on the northbound carriageway.

The route then dips gently from Ballito to the eMdloti lagoon and continues up the hill from the bridge
over the eMdloti River.

Runners then face a gentle climb up to uMhlanga, followed by a fast run into the city where the beachfront skyline and the iconic Moses Mabhida stadium forms the backdrop to the finish.

The turn off the M4 is at Durban Country Club. Runners will then run down Masabalala Yengwa Avenue leading then into Growthpoint Kings Park Stadium.

The event will also include a 21.1km Half Marathon, a 10km Ten-K, a 5km Fun Run and a 40km Cycle Race.
