Man arrested in Glenashley for attempted rape
The attempted rapist was nabbed after authorities confirmed an arrest warrant had been issued.
Authorities nabbed a suspect in Glenashley on Monday night wanted in connection with an attempted rape.
The man, said Marshal Security’s Tyron Powell, had been arrested in December, but was later granted bail.
That evening, patrollers spotted the same man on Newport Avenue, however, since they had no grounds to arrest him he was later released, added Powell.
“Upon further investigation, during the course of the day, it was discovered that a warrant of arrest had been issued for the man for offences relating to his bail conditions,” he said.
When a special operations team spotted the suspect yet again on Newport Avenue that same evening a chase ensued and the man was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Durban North SAPS.
