Suspect shot dead in Glen Anil robbery

One of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and thigh and was found dead on the N2 off-ramp.

A SUSPECT has been shot dead after he tried to rob a security guard of his weapon in Columbine Place in Glen Anil on Wednesday night. The suspect’s body was later discovered on the N2 off-ramp by police and security responding to the incident. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the incident occurred at about 9pm.

“Two suspects, one armed with a pistol, approached the guard and tried to forcefully take his weapon away from him. The armed suspect pointed his firearm at the man and the guard pulled out his weapon.

“He fired twice, hitting the suspect in the chest and thigh. Despite this, the suspects still wrestled the guard to the ground and made off with his weapon. When police and some of our patrol officers went in search of the suspects, we found the man dead on the N2 off-ramp near Chris Hani (North Coast) Road,” Powell said.
