Hey Now, Hey Now!

This cutting-edge 80’s rock show celebrates and pays tribute to the best alternative rock bands of the decade for one show only.

AN alternative tribute show entitled, Hey Now, Hey Now! will rock the Barnyard Theatre at Gateway this Easter. The show takes place on Sunday, 27 March. This cutting-edge 80’s rock show celebrates and pays tribute to the best alternative rock bands of the decade for one show only. Hey Now, Hey Now Now! was conceptualised in 2013 by Danny de Wet (ex Wonderboom, eVoid and Petit Cheval), to fulfil the need for an 80’s tribute show that focused on presenting the myriad of huge ‘unconventional’ chart-topping hits that alternative bands of the era enjoyed.

The repertoire includes medleys of the great songs by the great bands of the era such as Depeche Mode, REM, Duran Duran, INXS, Billy Idol, U2 and Simple Minds. In addition to this there were huge hits by slightly darker bands such as Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, Just Like Heaven by The Cure, Blister In The Sun by Violent Femmes, Blue Monday by New Order, This Corrosion by Sisters of Mercy, Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash and more.

Hey Now, Hey Now Now! features Danny De Wet, Dee Phoenix and Jay Wilton; together with the band of Quinton Lotter on drums and vocals, Justin Hart on bass guitar, and guitarists Mark Kenyon and Darren Drawbridge. Fans of 80’s alternative rock will remember Radio 5’s Barney Simon saying, “If it’s too loud, you’re too old!” The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are R110 per person.
