Taxi bursts into flames on M4

There were no passengers in the taxi at the time of the blaze.

A DRIVER of a taxi was lucky to escape injury after his vehicle caught alight on the M4 on Monday night. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen the incident occurred near eMdloti.

“Luckily the driver wasn’t injured and there were no passengers in the vehicle. The fire lasted for approximately 10 minutes before it was extinguished by eThekwini fire and rescue services,” he said.

In a similar scene in October last year, a driver also escaped serious injury after his car burst into flames on the M4.

Two weeks ago a cigarette thrown out of a car window was believed to be the cause of a paper truck catching alight on the N2.
