Join the Midmar ‘Moo’vement

Local resident will be donning a cow speedo for what some are calling the Mid‘moo’ Mile and has also urged others, including schools to get involved.

THE Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC) is urging residents to get ‘udder’ly involved in their Midmar Mile swim initiative. Northglen News recently caught up with Durban North resident, Gordon Reid, who is part of the herd of splotchy cows trying to make a difference to the lives of others at this year’s event. He will be donning a cow speedo for what some are calling the Mid‘moo’ Mile and has also urged others, including schools to get involved.

“There will be a lot of swimmers who are tackling the Midmar Mile as individuals and we would love for them to join us in our friesian cow swimsuits. This is all about making a difference. Each swimmer who signs up and commits to raise R2 500 for the cows, but, if your school sends more than 10 swimmers the amount to be raised will change to R1 500 per swimmer. We would like to challenge all schools, swimming schools to send as many swimmers as possible so lots of money can be raised for CHOC,” he said.

Reid said the organisation would give each swimmer a costume, be it a speedo or jammer in our now famous cow print which is certainly one of a kind.

The event takes place on Saturday 13 February (Event 2-Family Team-Individual Unofficial).

“To create a Cow presence we would like to ask you all to enter the Midmar Mile visit enter.midmarmile.co.za or visit www.thecows.co.za.
