How can you be more like Bill?

Two colleagues got together and created what has become a social media phenomenon.

IF you are on Facebook and you haven’t met Bill, then the chances are that you have been living under a rock. We first saw the ‘Be Like Bill’  meme earlier this month and it caught our attention because it left us thinking, ‘Why can’t more people be like Bill?’

Bill is a stick man who has taken Facebook by storm. He is a meme and Bill encourages Facebook users not to do things like, ‘Type Amen’ below a picture of  an extremely sick child. He even highlights how wrong it is to park in a disabled parking zone if you are not disabled.

Bill was created by Eugeniu Croitoru and a colleague, Debabrata Nath. Croitoru told BBC that Bill ‘can be anyone who is smart and has common sense and doesn’t do annoying things’.
Our pet hate is speeding because it kills, and to those who do it we have this to say: “This is Bill. Bill does not assume that because he is driving on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, one of the busiest roads in Durban North, that he should speed. Bill is smart. Be Like Bill, don’t speed on Umhlanga Rocks Drive.”
By Thursday afternoon, more than 1.3 million people had liked the main Be Like Bill page on Facebook.
