Near drowning at Blue Lagoon leaves one critical

The woman is in a stable condition confirmed paramedics.

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman was rescued after a near drowning incident near Blue Lagoon. It is believed the woman may have fallen into the water around the pier. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle Van Reenen, paramedics were initially told that a woman had drowned.

“Paramedics along with members of the South African Police Services search and rescue unit,were called to the Blue Lagoon pier. When we arrived we discovered that the woman had been retrieved from the sea by the lifeguards on duty and was in a serious condition.

“Advanced life support intervention was required to stabilize her before she was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care. The exact facts surrounding the incident are unclear and will form part of a South African Police Services investigation,” he said.
