Jewellery worth R1.5-million stolen from uMhlanga home

A female domestic worker confesses to stealing her employer’s jewellery.

A SECURITY company based in Verulam has reported that they arrested two domestic workers who they allege stole rings to the value of R1.5-million from a businessman in uMhlanga. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the three rings are valued at R1.5-million.

On its Facebook page, the security company posted that they were contacted by the businessman, who told them that jewellery was missing from his home.

“Reaction officers began conducting an investigation in an attempt to recover the jewels and after a lengthy interview with the female domestic worker and a male general worker, it was confirmed that the jewels were stolen over a three-month period,” they said.

Both suspects were arrested and detained at Durban North SAPS.
