Elderly honoured in Durban North

The aim of the event, said staff, was to honour and give thanks to the community members who have built the neighbourhood into its current state.

THE Durban North Library recently hosted an event in celebration of the International Day of Older Persons. The staff at the library arranged for a fun and entertaining day for the elderly in the Durban North community.

The honoured guests were treated to some live music and eats while having their blood pressure tested.Competitions and interesting talks on heart health and exercise were also the order of the day.

The aim of the event, said staff, was to honour and give thanks to the community members who have built the neighbourhood into its current state.

“Our elderly should be respected but they are sometimes forgotten. Their hard work has built the community to what it is today. Often there is no proper form of entertainment for older people, so we decided to arrange something special for them,” said staff.

The library is open on Monday from noon to 6pm, on Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturday from 08.30am to 12.30pm. Contact 031 563 4066.
