Durban North cyclist killed on the road

It is believed that one of the cyclists, belonging to a Durban North cycling club collided with the truck.

NETCARE 911 paramedics are reporting that they attended to a scene near Shakaskraal earlier today involving a truck and a local cyclist. Reports suggest that the man was traveling with a group cyclists when the accident occurred.

Spokesperson, Chris Botha said it is believed that one of the cyclists, belonging to a Durban North cycling club collided with the truck.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they determined that the truck had driven over the man, causing life-threatening injuries, said Botha.

“Paramedics worked fervently for about 45 minutes to resuscitate the critically wounded cyclist, tragically the man died at the scene,” he said.

A second cyclist also sustained minor injuries but refused treatment. Authorities were at the scene and will investigate the cause of this tragic accident.
