‘Family friend’ rapes girl (13)
He asked her to buy him beer and then later raped her in her bedroom.
THE life of a teenage girl has been turned upside-down after a family friend allegedly raped her in her home over the long weekend. Shortly after asking the minor to buy him alcohol, he cornered her in her bedroom, where he sexually assaulted her.
On Saturday, after a play-date with her neighbours, the 13-year-old arrived at her home on Johanna Road in Sea Cow Lake to find her aunt, uncle and cousin had ‘gone out’, leaving her alone with the family friend, said W/O Leon Audh of the Greenwood Park SAPS.
Upon her return, the suspect gave the victim cash and asked her to buy him beer. She complied and later handed him the alcohol she had bought, he added.
He then asked her to remove her clothes. She refused and went to her room where she watched television.
The suspect, said Audh, then followed the victim to her bedroom and ‘raped her forcibly’.
When her family returned home, the girl told them what had happened. Police were called to the scene. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station. A rape case was opened, confirmed Audh.
“No one has the right to force you into sexual activity. This means no one can force you to have sex, touch you in a sexual way without your consent or force you to perform sexual activities you find unpleasant or humiliating,” said Audh.
He urged victims to report such incidences to the authorities.
