Police remain mum on burnt body case

A Greenwood Park police spokesperson said they were unable to share any new information pertaining to the case of the Red Hill burnt body.

POLICE are unable to divulge any new information pertaining to the burnt body found in Red Hill one week ago. This is according to Greenwood Park SAPS spokesperson, W/O Leon Audh.

“Investigations are underway and there have been some developments, but we are unable to release the information to the media,” he said.

Last week Audh confirmed that the individual, found in the boot of a burnt-out Polo near the Malacca Road Informal Settlement, had been shot execution-style. The victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and the hands were tied behind the back.

The grisly discovery was made on Thursday, 30 July. Residents from the informal settlement spotted the flames at around 7pm and informed the authorities.

When the flames were doused and the shell of a vehicle inspected, police found the charred remains.

According to Audh, the car had been stolen in Sydenham in August last year.
