One killed and three injured in North Coast crash

A 21-year-old man died after his car rolled on North Coast Road last night

One person was killed and three people were injured last night when a vehicle rolled on North Cost Road.

A 21-year-old old man died in the accident while three of his passengers were critically injured.

“Paramedics arrived on scene to find a light motor vehicle laying on its side in the roadway. The driver, a 21-year-old male, had sustained fatal brain injuries and was declared dead on arrival,” said Kyle van Reenen, of Crisis Medical.

One of the passengers sustained a serious spinal cord injury, he added.

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was placed onto a specialized stretcher and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The other two passengers were also stabilized on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

“It is unclear what caused the collision but bystanders allege the driver appeared to have lost control at high speed causing the vehicle to roll several times,” said Van Reenen.

The local authorities were on scene and will investigate the incident.
