Enter one of Durban’s most popular races

Join Durban ladies for the Spar Women's Race.

IN less than six weeks’ time, more than 17 000 women and very few men will take to the streets for the annual Spar Women’s 10km/5km race. This epic race, which has become a favourite with Durban women, will take place this year on Sunday, 7 June. The majority of the 10km race is along the seaside promenade with the Indian Ocean as the backdrop.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s race, Spar’s managing director, Rob Philipson, said the race was not only about serious runners but also social runners who usually enter the race in massive numbers. “It is about the social runners and walkers who enter to enjoy the camaraderie of womenhood, the challenge of participating and ultimately a healthier lifestyle.”

Registration is limited to 17 500 runners and walkers, and race registration will be at the SunZone at Suncoast located off the promenade on Thursday, 4 June and Friday, 5 June from 10am to 5pm.

Entries can also be done the following day on Saturday, 6 June from 10am to 3pm. Enter online at www.sparwomensrace.co.za, or manual entries can be done at race registration. What’s more, R5 from every entry will be donated to KZN Athletics to be used to improve the nutritional intake of athletes as part of the organisation’s District Athletics Development programme. Last year more than R67 000 was raised.
