Two bodies found on Riverside Road
The bodies of an elderly male and female were found near the Beachwood Mangroves last night. They had both been stabbed to death.
LAST night at around 10.30pm authorities discovered the bodies of an an elderly couple in the field on Riverside Road, outside the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve.
According to Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical, the male and female had both sustained single stab wounds to the chest.
“Unfortunately the individuals were dead upon our arrival. It is believed that they were homeless,” he said.
An Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife representative said that vagrancy had increased in the area in recent months.
“We are calling for additional police patrols as this is a security risk, not only within the reserve but also for the community outside of the reserve. Our field rangers have been patrolling inside and outside the reserve and have noticed an increase in vagrants in the area where the incident took place,” he said.
The Northgen News has been unable to reach the Durban North SAPS for comment.
