Sharing the warmth

More than a thousand blankets were donated to the animals under the care of the Durban & Coast SPCA.

THE furry critters at the Durban & Coast SPCA will be sleeping cosy and warm this winter, thanks to a generous donation from the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital.

More than a thousand blankets and duvets were donated to the local non-profit organisation (NPO). The annual donation is alternated between various deserving charities in the area.

“This is always a donation that is always welcomed. We are always in need of blankets to make the stay at the SPCA kennels more comfy and warm for the animals. Our blankets are in constant need of replacing as some animals do chew the blankets,” said Megs Tweedie, of the Durban and Coast SPCA.

Tweedie said that the blankets will especially be a blessing during the coming winter months.

The local animal focused NPO usually conducts annual fundraisers and blanket drives as there is such a constant need for these items.
