La Lucia robbers target family safe

A La Lucia husband was assaulted and his family tied up during a robbery on Ridge Road.

A LA LUCIA family has been left traumatized after four men broke into their home and robbed them at gunpoint on Tuesday morning.

The family of three was relaxing in their dining room, when four men targeted their Ridge Road property.  The domestic worker and a visitor who were with the family at the time were also caught in the attack.

According to Craig Adendorff, of Sun Cell Watch, the brazen robbers forced open the property’s gate, kicked open the front door and confronted the family in the dining room, where they demanded cash. Two of the thugs were reportedly armed with handguns.

The home invasion escalated as the men tied up the wife, son, domestic worker and the visitor and locked them in the bedroom. They isolated the husband and demanded that he show them where the family’s safe was.

After he complied to their demands he was struck on the back of the head with a gun, and the men fled the scene with the entire safe. An undisclosed amount of cash was stashed in the safe.

“They did not want the resident’s cellphones. The family told the robbers, ‘just take our phones, but please leave us alone’. But, the robbers rejected their offer and said that they did not want the phones as they could be tracked,” said Adendorff.

The resident was not seriously injured during the assault, and no other items where stolen during the incident.
