Shock as Facebook goes down

Social network site goes down affecting millions across the globe.

PANIC struck millions of Facebook users across the world earlier this evening as the global social network website went offline. People took to Twitter to lament their status as both Facebook’s website and mobile apps were affected.

“Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can,” reads an error message on Facebook’s desktop site.

According to reports, the outage appears to be affecting users in the U.S. and Canada, as well as other parts of the world.

Facebook has is yet to comment on the outage.

Last month Facebook users couldn’t log on due to a load-balancing issue that prevented some people from accessing it for a brief period of time.

The longest time the social network was down was in 2010 with the website being unreachable for almost 2.5 hours.
